Mexicoa is a monotypic genus of orchids. Its only species: Mexicoa ghiesbreghtiana (A Rich. & Galeotti) Garay, is native to Mexico.

Description

It is a species of orchid epiphytic or lithophytic habit and grows well with the Odontoglossum genus. Pseudobulbs ovoid-shaped, conical or pear-shaped, with two upper leaves, linear or linear-lanceolate and acute.

Flowers in a lax inflorescence 14 cm long with 3-6 flowers, simple. Flowering occurs in spring through fall.

Distribution and habitat

The plants were found in oak forests of Jalisco, Michoacan, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Mexico City of Mexico at elevations around 1,400 to 2,300 meters.
